Managing MySQL DatabaseFAQ - Creating a Database Backup

Note: You will need MySQL Administrator to create a backup. If you do not have MySQL Administrator, you may download it here.


Step 1.
Run the MySQL Administrator and you will see the screen below.

For Server Host , enter the server ip address. The port should be 3306
For Username and password , please enter the username and password provided to you and select 'OK'.




Step 2.
On the the left-hand side navigation menu select 'Backup'. You will see the screen below.
From there, select 'New Project' on the bottom to create a new backup project.




Step 3.
Select the database you want to backup in the left-sided column and select the '>' button to move it under the 'Backup Content' Column.




Step 4.
Select the "Advance Options" tab and you will see the screen below.
Make sure you have "Normal Backup " and "Complete Backup" selected.
The Backup Type should be SQL Files.
Under "Output File Options" make sure you have "Add DROP TABLE Statements" and "Complete INSERTs"selected.
Select the "Execute Backup Now " button on the bottom.




Step 5.
Select the directory you want to save the backup in and select 'Save' to run the backup
