Managing MySQL DatabaseFAQ - Creating a Database Backup

Note: You will need MySQL Administrator to create a backup. If you do not have MySQL Administrator, you may download it here.


Step 1.
Run the MySQL Administrator and you will see the screen below.

For Server Host , enter the server ip address. The port should be 3306
For Username and password , please enter the username and password provided to you and select 'OK'.




Step 2.
On the the left-hand side navigation menu select 'Restore'. You will see the screen below.
From there, select 'Open Backup File" on the bottom.




Step 3.
Under 'File to restore" you will see the path of the backup that will be restored.
Under 'Target Schema', select name of the database that you are restoring (in this case the database name is 'test').
The 'Backup Type ' should be SQL Files.
